The Student Center South (SCS) is on the north side of University Drive and west of Martin Luther King Blvd. See the red outline on the map below.

The nearest visitor parking is on the roof of the Welcome Center Garage (blue outline; entrance from MLK Blvd marked by a black arrow), and at street level in Lot 21C (blue outline), on the east side of MLK Blvd, behind the Baptist Student Ministry building. Both of these locations have a pay-by-phone system. If you do not wish to pay by phone, the Elgin Garage (purple outline) has a gated visitor section, with a credit card payment station at the exit. There is no free parking on the University of Houston main campus.

SPTC is organized by the South Texas Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (STS-AIChE). Attendance is open to all, but STS-AIChE members receive preferential pricing. 

If you are already a member of AIChE, but not yet a member of STS-AIChE, you can add an STS membership to your AIChE National Membership (here).

If you are not a member of AIChE, you can join STS-AIChE for $50, with the intent to join the national AIChE organization within a two-year period (here)

If you prefer not to join STS-AIChE at this time, you are welcome to attend SPTC at the non-member rates.

We also have a special rate for Unemployed STS Members and Emeritus STS Members. STS Members in good standing as of April 15, 2026, who are currently unemployed or fully retired are eligible for this rate.
